I just wanted to make a quick post here about my trusty Pflueger reels while I'm busy doing some reel maintenance. In the first pic you can see the original Pflueger International 627 with which I caught my first fish. I used to fish the banks of the Youghiogheny River with this reel back in the 70's and early 80's and it has taken an awful beating over the years. But you know what? It may not look pretty, but it still works perfectly to this day.
Pictured next to it is a newer model that has also taken a bit of a beating but it's a good comparison to show how far these reels have come in my lifetime. They're great reels at a good price point and if you're new to fishing it's hard to beat a Pflueger. Even if you're experienced, they now make some fairly high-end reels that are hard to beat for the price.
I usually try to list a deal or two on Pfluegers here on the FishBlogger.com
deals page
so check those out if you're considering some new equipment. I also try to list other items that are known to be good quality, especially if I can find them at a good discount, so keep our
deals page
bookmarked and check back often!
Tight lines!
