The east wind was blowing up to 20 mph when I anchored up to fish a small willow tree island. I was searching for bluegill, specks (crappie),and catfish. Using a little known bait the grass shrimp. Grass shrimp are hands down the best bait for panfish here in central Florida. Grass shrimp can only be caught by using a seine net or a hand grass shrimp net bought at bait and tackle stores. They look like their saltwater cousins but only get to be around 1 1/2 inches. I was using an Ultra lite rod with a cigar shape float and a #6 long shanked bream hook. After catching a nice speck I caught a couple of bluegills then one more speck. I finished out the day by catching a few more bluegill before the wind got too much to stay positioned. So if you have grass shrimp it would be a good decision to get yourself a grass shrimp net to catch all kinds of panfish. For more info go to www.countryboysfishing.com
