This bait didn't have a scratch on it when I got started.

I decided to fish upriver to look around for some spawners and it was mostly a tough day. I fished around a few coves, points, and ledges and didn't catch much until I found a rare Coosa treat: a shell bed.

I was fishing a cove and working my way out in front of it when I got a bite on the Cordell Spot you see in the pic. The area didn't look like anything, so I was curious. I kept casting to that spot and it was just one fish after another, and good ones. I was a little unsure why those fish were in that spot until I snagged a mussel shell and reeled it in. It all made perfect sense then.

While I'm sitting there catching one fish after another, wouldn't you know a friendly fellow fisherman comes trolling over in his aluminum boat just to tell me how great of a job I'm doing. He said "I seen you huntin'".... and went on to explain how he watched me look for fish, and when I finally found them, he was sure nice enough to come over very close to that same spot to let me know how great I'm doing.

I got the funny feeling he just found a new spot too. Or maybe he already knew about that spot and was hoping I wouldn't find it! Ha! Either way, I don't fish many tournaments and I doubt he was in a T either, so if he needed some fish I hope he caught a few. At least he didn't come up and start casting to within 10 feet of my boat like that guy in Cropwell that one time. Yikes.
