My buddy Tim and I were out doing some night fishing when I landed this toad off the back of his boat. I've caught a few Coosa largemouth (and spots) that were close to this size but nothing bigger. We didn't have any scales but I would guess it was maybe 6lbs or better. We were fishing down the bank in about 10-12ft of water and this fish picked up my worm as soon as it landed near a brushpile. There was no doubting that thump.

When I first hooked it I thought it was a 3 or 4lb spot because they pull that hard but when I got it to the top I could see it was one of those beautiful native Coosa largemouth. They're almost a gold-green without any patterning on them. Really pretty fish. This one was returned back to the waters of Logan Martin to fight another day.

I'm posting this blog many years later so I don't remember much about that night other than this catch but we had many good nights fishing Logan Martin back then. Dark worms and black spinnerbaits were usually the ticket.
